The Bioinformatics Group carries out both fundamental and applied research. Our fundamental research focus is on optimising information flow for model-based population genomic analyses. This includes work on data compression algorithms and both assessing published approaches and developing alternatives. Our applied research focus is in providing a state-of-the-art environment (The Fishery) for IVB researchers who require massively parallel resources for genome-scale computation.
