Millions of bats in North America have died due to diseases caused by fungi Pseudogymnoascus (Geomyces) destructans. White nose syndrome was first registered in cave close Albany (New York) in 2006. Since then, the disease has expanded massively. Czech team of scientists has demonstrated the occurrence WNS in European bats. Czech bats are able to cope with the disease much better than American bat species. What makes our bats adapted and how they may survive this disease? That’s something what the science team composed of experts from the Institute of Biology Vertebrates AV ČR try to discover.Online video.
